Ingredient
- 4 Capsicums
- 1/2 cup Dhoor dhal
- 1 Big onion
- 1 Tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon of asofetida
- 1 teaspoon of Curry powder (home-made)
- 1/2 teaspoon Tumeric powder
- Small ball of Tamarind
- 2 tablespoon of Oil
- 1 tablespoon of Mustard
- 1 tablespoon of Fenugreek
- 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon of Urid
- Some Curry leaves
- Some corriander leaves
- 2 cups of water.
- 1 teaspoon of salt
Method
- Dice the Capsicums.
- Dice the Onion & Tomatoes
- Boil the Dhoor Dahal with turmeric,and water.(use the pressure cooker for 3 Whistles)
- Add Water, Tamarind, Curry powder & salt in a bowl and soak for 10 minutes.
- Then mix well and squeeze out the pits.
- Heat the oil in a frying fan
- Add Mustard ,Fenugreek,Cumin,Urid & Curry leaves.
- Add diced Onion & Fry well till brown then add Capsicum pieces.
- Later add the Tomatoes
- Add tamarind mixture and let it boil.
- Add the boiled Dhoordhal mixture from the cooker
- Heat for another 5 minutes and now the Sambar is ready.
- Put some coorriander leaves and serve.
- Serve as a curry to accompany rice, chappathis, dosa, idllys etc.
